White is a minimalist exploration of the coastal and industrial landscapes of Newcastle and marks a new direction in Kelly-Ann Lees’s work. Inspired by the shapes and contours of the city from above, White is a distillation of the hard lines of industry and the soft curves of nature. Through a reduction of the colour palette, the repetition of simple shapes and the combination of steel and timber Lees conveys the essence of the landscape around her.
